Fulfilling a dream by volunteering at Dogs Inc

Volunteering has always been important to me, but nothing prepared me for the experience I had when I started my journey with Dogs Inc. From the moment I walked through the door for orientation, I felt I was part of something truly special. Dogs Inc plays a crucial role in training remarkable dogs that change the lives of visually impaired individuals, veterans healing from both physical and mental wounds, and Gold Star families across the United States—all at no cost for those in need.

The journey with Dogs Inc began with my desire to help veterans who have PTSD. I have always admired how service dogs can provide companionship and assistance, but seeing the work firsthand at Dogs Inc was nothing short of inspiring. The mission of Dogs Inc resonated with me—training dogs not only to perform tasks for their human partners but to provide emotional support and hope.

As a volunteer, I will first undergo training to assist with various tasks, including working alongside our Canine Keepers to clean kennels, do laundry, and supervise puppies in the play yards. In this role, I will focus on three areas within Puppy Academy: 1. Genetics & Reproduction (G&R), 2. Puppy Nursery, and 3. Puppy Kindergarten.

It’s hard work, but someone has to take care of all these adorable puppies.
